The Sale
(Andy Eppler)
July 11, 2008
I been thinking bout the price we that we all pay
Politicians workin on ways to pad the bill
Raising the money to help us go and kill
What is it they say bout the nation who goes to war?
And what happens to the courage when we don’t believe no more?
Earn the trophies and stack the dead
Run from the fear that’s been planted in our head
People hungry go without a meal
Who’s the one who worked out this deal?
What is it they say about the nation that rots within?
If you pray you better pray God forgives us of our sin
No wisdom only force
Two party system living through a great divorce
Wipe your tears they make you look weak
Don’t you know God crushes the meek?
Separated by lies and deceit
But in the end we all still turn to meat
Lawyers thinking this all just a money game
Painting the walls with blood shed in our name
Mighty soldier strong and true
But you don’t respect the service they render you
Replace the president to no avail
The country still hides underneath it’s lazy veil
You sold your soul but what did you get for the sale
Building a Building
(Andy Eppler)
October 17, 2008
Under the building made out of wood from history’s tree
Lay humbled and silent the once burning heart of God
They trample us and burry us and lay us underneath the sod
Don’t come looking here for art cause they’ve cancelled all the shows
The sheriff and his deputies just watching wallets grow
They beat upon the chest but no one can find the key
In their hurried muddled fury they have buried it with me
They need me for the novelty but not from day to day
They wave a flag of freedom but shackle us with chain
Now drying on the doorstep sit the bones of Holley’s men
Begging us and praying we don’t do this to them again
give us back, give us back, give us back those badges you are wearing
